
On Friday evening, a man was hit by a car in Apach, just across the border. The car came from Luxembourg and hit the victim as he was walking across a pedestrian crossing to get back to his lorry.
According to local media, the man was killed on the spot. The victim was in his fifties and lived in Rettel, Germany.
Apach mayor Patrick Gutières ordered the closure of the road where the accident occurred. Firefighters from Sierck and police from Rettel were at the scene.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
