SNCB were unaware of the fact that real images of the railway catastrophe had been used in the Netflix film and spoke of “disrespectful usage.”
Netflix used real footage of the derailment of the Belgian train and the damage caused. As a reminder, the Buzingen railway tragedy left 19 dead and 310 wounded in February 2010.
SNBC’s management deplores that such footage has been used as entertainment. In the movie, the images are completely removed from their original context, which translates into a lack of respect for both victims and survivors, SNBC said.
According to the Flemish daily De Standaard, there is a chance that the footage had been bought and used without prior authorization.
