The incident took place on the sidelines of an event organised by the “Une rose, un espoir” motorbike association, in Val de Briey, near Metz.
Initial reports suggest a motorcyclist hit a car head-on. It is thought the motorcyclist was unable to stop, for as yet undetermined reasons.

The rider was thrown from the vehicle by the impact and died on the spot. His teenage son, a passenger, was seriously injured and treated by the air ambulance, according to news outlet Républicain Lorrain.

Two other motorcyclists in the “Une rose, un espoir” suffered leg injuries as part of the incident. The occupants of the car escaped unharmed.

The association confirmed the cancellation of Sunday’s event as a result of the tragic accident.
