Sweden’s national broadcaster SVT report that one car on the roller coaster “Jetline” derailed and fell ‘several metres’, and that one person died as a result of the accident which also left several injured.

A large-scale rescue operation took place, and the park was evacuated to allow for the rescue efforts. A police spokesperson told SVT that they sent a large number of officers to the scene, to which emergency and ambulance personnel were also dispatched. A medical helicopter was also sent.

The latest report says that nine people were injured in the accident and taken to hospital for treatment. Three reportedly suffered serious injuries. Rescue services have confirmed that the car derailed and became stuck, with some passengers falling to the ground while others were stuck in the car. Those taken to hospital include both children and adults.

Gröna Lund spokesperson Annika Troselius also issued a statement to SVT, describing the accident as “unfathomably tragic and shocking,” while emphasising that their focus right now is on taking care of all of those impacted by the incident.
