
The evening of Saturday 5 April turned tragic in Peltre. The town, near Metz, was the scene of a rail accident.
According to reports in Lorraine media, a woman was hit by a train on the Strasbourg-Metz route as she was walking along the tracks. According to radio Ici, the victim died instantly.
The authorities have launched an investigation to identify the victim, which was not immediately possible. Suicide is suspected.
Trains were stopped for two hours and around fifty passengers, all unharmed, were taken to Metz by bus.
