Diverting electricity is a crime punishable by the law and, in this case, the electricity provider found out and has submitted a complaint against the man.

According to France Bleu Lorraine, the rather stubborn man made nearly fifteen separate unauthorised connections to other electricity supplies until he got caught out.

The 39-year-old will have to answer the matter in court, as he had purportedly diverted nearly €12,000 worth of electricity.

According to France Bleu, the man living on Rue de l’Usine in Rombas had his electricity supply cut in May 2018, as he had not been paying his bills. The man then decided to make unauthorised connections to an electricity box. This was in turn noticed by the electricity supplier and an engineer was sent out to address the illegal connection. Nevertheless, the man continued illegally connecting to the electricity box around fifteen times in total. On each occasion, the supplier sent out an engineer before finally reporting the man to the police, who took the man into custody on Tuesday.
