RTL Today
An impressive 22.5 meter wide cruise ship became the largest vessel to pass through the narrow Corinth Canal in Greece. The operator released captivating footage of the daring entreprise.

The ship carried 929 passengers when it embarked on its daring journey through Greece’s claustrophobically narrow and rocky Corinth Canal. The canal has a maximum width of 25 meters while the boat is 22.5 meters wide and 195.28 meter long. Talk about a lack of wiggle room.

The operator, Fred Olsen cruise liners, proudly announced on their social media that “Braemar made history as the longest-ever ship to cruise through the CorinthCanal.”

In a statement, the director of product and customer service said that “this is such an exciting sailing and tremendous milestone in Fred Olsen’s 171-year history, and we are thrilled to have been able to share it with our guests.”

The Corinth Canal is 6.3km long and can shorten the route from Italian ports to the port of Athens significantly.
