
‘NEXTGENERATIONEU’ - Luxembourg has been awarded an €83 million EU support package. The aid came about during the pandemic and has been designed as a means to help EU member states increase their resilience and relaunch their economy. The funds will primarily be invested into traineeships to reinforce the labour market, into transportation projects, and into sustainable and affordable housing.

The municipality of Kehlen reported the news on its Facebook Page on Monday morning, calling on residents to report any suspicious behaviour to police or the commune.
PRECIOUS CARGO - Hundreds of beer bottles were smashed to pieces when a piece of cargo fell off a lorry in Clemency, on Monday. The transporter was headed down a left turn on Rue de l’Église when a part of its cargo came off. This cargo turned out to be Battin beer crates. The broken glass bottles (and unfortunately their contents) were strewn across the street and pavement. The technical service from the local municipality was on site to clean up after the accident. Traffic was also regulated by police.
GREENWASHING - Greenpeace and other environmental groups are taking legal action against the Europewide classification of natural gas and nuclear energy as “sustainable”. Greenpeace, BUND, WWF and others filed lawsuits against the EU Commission, at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg on Tuesday, according to the environmentalists. They accuse the board of Commission President Ursula von der Leyen of “greenwashing”.
CRACKING DOWN - G7 foreign ministers warned Tuesday that those helping Russia wage war in Ukraine would face “severe costs”, as they offered a united front on another key policy challenge: China. After two days of talks in Japan, the top diplomats from leading economies unveiled no new sanctions on Moscow over its invasion but pledged to crack down on those helping Russia evade the measures and acquire weapons.
TRUTHGPT - Elon Musk is out to counter Microsoft and Google artificial intelligence efforts with “truth seeking AI” that shuns political correctness, he said during an interview on Monday. The billionaire boss of Twitter and Tesla voiced anew his concerns about the danger of AI, saying it has “the potential of civilizational destruction.” He said he was also worried that the ChatGPT bot created by startup OpenAI was being taught to be politically correct.

BOSTON MARATHON - Defending champion Evans Chebet of Kenya won the Boston Marathon again on Monday, surging to the front at Heartbreak Hill to spoil the much-anticipated debut of world record holder Eliud Kipchoge and win in a time of 2:05:54.
