The strike was announced at short notice on Tuesday evening, in light of ongoing disputes over the company’s pension scheme. Lufthansa in turn has criticised the industrial action, arguing the short-term announcement has hit its passengers “extremely hard and disproportionately”. The airline further called the unions to return to negotiations, adding that “viable solutions can only be found through dialogue”.
Alongside commercial flights, the pilots’ union (Vereinigung Cockpit, VC) noted the cargo division is also affected. Equally, Lufthansa’s CityLine cabin crew was also urged to take part in the warning strike.
For Luxembourg passengers, the strike is set to affect them minimally: Thursday morning’s flights from and to Munich landed and departed on time, though the later connection at 5pm has been cancelled.
