Local inhabitants of the German city of Ostritz had a creative way of protesting against the arrival of 500 neo-Nazi participants for a right-wing music festival: they bought up the total beer supply of all supermarkets.

Ostritz’s inhabitants hereby wanted to make it very clear that neo-Nazis were not welcome in their city, who travelled from all over Germany to attend the “shield and sword festival”.

A significantly lower number of right-wing extremists had come than expected. Police initially counted with 2,000 but only 500 attendees showed up.

Furthermore, German police confiscated over 4,200 litres of beer after an alcohol ban was imposed on the event by the municipality.
