The measure will see most leisure activities suspended and a multitude of places presenting a risk of spreading the virus closed.

According to Belgian media, all indoor and outdoor activities will be prohibited. Pools, beach bars. and libraries are closed. Religious activities are also banned.

Mayor Leopold Lippens told local newspaper Nieuwsblad that “while the federal government continues to argue endlessly, we intervene ourselves.” The drastic measure does not exclude the possibility that shops and restaurants will also have to close soon.
