The hunter handed a human skull over to police on 27 December, triggering extensive searches in the Bois de Plantis.
A number of very old bones were later located by police on Wednesday 28 December, although there is insufficient evidence to suggest the age of the remains, or whether they belonged to a man or a woman.
The Namur public prosecutor said it was unlikely to be part of a recent case, with the bones potentially dating back to the Second World War, as the discovery site saw heavy battle in December 1944.
A medical examiner and anthropologist will be appointed to the case in due course.
