Liège police advised at 11.45am that a security perimeter had been erected around the building on Quai Bonaparte. The building was evacuated and the road was closed to allow the teams access, which caused traffic problems around the riverside.

A bomb disposal unit managed to remove the explosive device before 2pm. An arrest took place earlier due to a family dispute, said police. The road has since reopened.
