Heroes sometimes come in unexpected shapes. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library hired 805 goats to clear flammable scrub surrounding the library.

When the library near Los Angeles was threatened by the Easy Fire, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library took an unusual preventive measure. More than 500 goats were brought in to eat the grass and inflammable scrub surrounding the university library so that firefighters would have a buffer zone and additional time to battle the flames before they would reach the building.

The furry heroes included Vincent van Goat, Selena Goatmez and Goatzart.

“We were told by one of the firefighters that they believe that fire break made their job easier,” a library spokeswoman told Reuters.
