In the car tuning scene, the meetings on Good Friday are called “Car Friday”, which is a pun made from the German translation for Good Friday which is Karfreitag. In the past few years, the scene has focused on the “motorsport Mecca”, the Nürburgring in the Eifel region.

Unauthorised tuning, forbidden races and noise pollution are to be prevented, as the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) announced in Mainz on Monday 3 April.

The LKA warned that car fans could face severe penalties for offences. In addition to high fines, illegal racing could result in point deductions, the revocation of the driver’s licence or the confiscation of the vehicle.
