In an unusual request to law enforcement, a man sought German police assistance to orchestrate a memorable marriage proposal for his girlfriend on Wednesday afternoon.
The man contacted officers with a clear rationale: “An extraordinary woman deserves an extraordinary proposal.” To facilitate this, police agreed to stage a traffic stop on the BAB 64 between Luxembourg and Trier, pulling over his girlfriend’s car for a routine check.
Understandably nervous, the woman complied and handed her documents to the officers. They then asked her to step out of the vehicle. There, she found her boyfriend waiting on one knee, presenting a ring case and popping the question.
Overwhelmed by the surprise, the woman embraced her partner and – luckily for him – accepted the proposal.
The celebration continued as witnesses, who had been concealed nearby, emerged to congratulate the newly engaged couple. The attending police officers also offered their best wishes. The groom-to-be later expressed public thanks to the officers from Trier and Kassel for their supportive role in the plan.
The couple’s wedding is tentatively scheduled for spring 2026.
