Last week, a French citizen was arrested in Myanmar’s capital Naypyidaw for allegedly flying a drone over the country’s parliament.
Under the country’s tough laws on unmanned aerial vehicles, the tourist could face a lengthy prison sentence of up to 3 years.
In 2017, two Turkish journalists were condemned to a two-month prison sentence for breaching anti-aircraft laws after similarly flying a drone near Myanmar’s parliament.
Further charges which could have led to a longer sentence were later dropped.
