Jonathan, 41, was ordered to stop donating his sperm after fathering over 550 children worldwide through donations, reports the BBC.

He faces a fine of over €100,000 if he violates the order. He was banned from donating to Dutch fertility clinics in 2017 after fathering over 100 children, but he continued to donate abroad and online.

Jonathan was ordered to provide a list of all clinics he had used, instruct them to destroy his sperm, and not to donate again. He misled hundreds of women by lying about the number of children he had fathered.

Dutch guidelines state that a donor should father no more than 25 children in 12 families to avoid siblings unknowingly forming a couple and having children together.

The court ruled that Jonathan had fathered between 550 and 600 children since 2007, which exceeds Dutch clinical guidelines. He was taken to court by a foundation protecting donor children’s rights and the mother of one of his children.

Over 100 of his children were born in Dutch clinics, while others were conceived privately or through a Danish clinic that shipped his semen to various countries.

The court prohibits Jonathan from donating his sperm to new prospective parents, contacting prospective parents, advertising his services, or joining organizations that connect prospective parents.

The district court in The Hague said that the kinship network with hundreds of half-siblings could have negative psychosocial consequences for the children.
