RTL Today
Shipping traffic was ground to a halt on Monday as three youths drove a car into the Moselle.

Between Mehring and Pölich – not too far from Trier – at 2am on Monday morning, three teenagers drove into the Moselle. The vehicle sank and had to be pulled out on Monday morning, which consequently put a halt on shipping traffic.

Only 15 years of age, the driver was drunk at the time of the incident. He lost control of the vehicle, came off the street, drove over a patch of grass, and into the Moselle.

According to the police statement, all three managed to get out of the car before fleeing the scene. However, it did not take long for the police to track them down. How they managed to acquire the vehicle is unknown.

Throughout Monday morning, the police, the fire brigade, the Red Cross, and the German water police were all on location working together to remove the vehicle from the river.
