
Four people were in the vehicle. Two people died, and two others were seriously injured, according to newspaper France Bleu. A third person, apparently a witness, was injured in trying to help the victims, the newspaper continues.
Lorraine media confirmed that the driver presented himself to the authorities three days after the tragedy. Est Républicain reported he had been driving without a license. The man was taken into custody on 4 January.
According to Nancy’s public prosecutor’s office, it was believed that excessive speed was the cause of the accident. Possible drug and alcohol use are also being investigated as reports by France Bleu suggest bottles of alcohol and laughing gas were found in the vehicle.
