Two vehicles were involved in the crash on the B51 in Welschbillig, Germany, around 2.15 pm on Saturday.
The 38-year-old driver, who ended up in a head-on collision following an attempt to overtake, died at the scene. Another two individuals were injured, one of them more severely.
The road had to be closed for traffic temporarily to allow emergency vehicles to intervene.
