The fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, on the E42 motorway in the direction of Liège - Namur-Mons. According to Belgian media and local police reports, the man died of his injuries on the spot, not far from Rhisnes.
A car had wanted to avoid a buffer truck and crashed into a construction van in the process, causing the death of the construction worker, said police.
According to the Namur prosecutor, the man was thrown over ten metres away and died on impact. Another worker was also struck by the vehicle, suffering leg injuries. The car, whose front was severely damaged, was registered in Luxembourg.
Both the left and middle lanes were obstructed for a long time, causing long queues of traffic throughout Wednesday afternoon and evening, before they were cleared.
