15 planes were unable to land in Berlin on Thursday afternoon and had to be redirected. Climate activists from the group Letzte Generation (“Last Generation”) had glued themselves to the landing strip of the Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), disrupting air traffic for nearly two hours.

Following this incident, the German Minister for Mobility Volker Wissing said that the protests are becoming increasingly “unconscionable” and that society will not tolerate “this kind of behaviour.” Interior Minister Nancy Faeser claimed that the protestors’ activities are escalating the situation further.

Several protestors were arrested, according to German police, and a complaint was made against them for dangerous interference with air traffic.
