The family from Versailles never lost hope after their beloved cat Chanel disappeared during a stop at the Aire L'Isle-d'Abeau in the Isère region on 8 August. The family, who were on their way to the mountains, cancelled their holiday and stayed behind at the rest area to look for their pet.

After nearly two weeks of searching without success, the family reluctantly returned home but travelled back every weekend to continue the search, as Stéphane, the father, told Ici Isère.

Their perseverance paid off: after 28 days, Chanel was finally found. Stéphane told BFMTV that for once, we cried with joy, because they had been crying out of sorrow for 28 days. He described the reunion as an incredibly emotional moment, adding that "the nightmare is finally over".

Even during the most discouraging moments, the family never considered giving up. Chanel had been spotted near the same spot where she went missing. Stéphane explained that the cat probably saw them searching in the area, which is why he always tells people not to give up, stay where the animal disappeared and make your presence known, so it knows you are there.

The family now wants to thank everyone who helped bring Chanel home. Stéphane said that the whole family will be donating to animal organisations and also compensate the people who helped them by covering any expenses they had.
