The video has gone viral on social media in Belgium, showing a woman driving a new Mercedes and refusing to accept that a railway crossing was under construction.

In the video, the woman stops her car, gets out and opens the barriers, and tries to cross the rubble blocking off the railway crossing. The attempt quite obviously failed as the woman realised she became stuck on the rubble...the front of her car on the railway line.

The incident occurred on the Brussels-Gand line, where trains are known to travel at an average of 120 kilometres per hour, with four trains coming along the line each hour.

Thankfully for the driver, the network in charge of Belgium’s railways, Infrabel, was informed of the incident in time and stopped rail traffic to ensure the car was removed, thus avoiding a collision which would certainly have had severe consequences.
