Temperature records were broken in Belgium as well as Luxembourg, but a negligent dog owner’s actions required the intervention of firefighters. On Thursday, the fire brigade of Arlon saved a dog that had been left on a balcony during the heatwave. His owners had left the dog outside without water or shelter from the sun, while temperatures exceeded 38°C.
The authorities intervened immediately after having been alerted by the neighbours, and entrusted the dog to the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals. According to Belgian media sources, the fate of the animal is now to be decided upon by the mayor.
