Situated in a construction zone where a 70km/h speed restriction applies, the speed camera has surprised a number of motorists in a rush.

Over the course of one month, from its installation on 23 July to 23 August, it has flashed on 27,329 occasions.

This amounts to roughly 850 vehicles flashed per day. The speed camera was painted in yellow last weekend.

Roadworks are expected to finish on 8 November, with the speed camera in place until they conclude.
