The European Union is suspending its planned retaliatory measures against US import duties for six months, a spokesperson for the European Commission has announced.

The measures had originally been scheduled to take effect this week.

The list of targeted goods included various industrial and agricultural products from the United States that were set to face additional tariffs.

The decision follows a compromise reached just over a week ago during a meeting in Scotland between US President Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
