A man has been shot dead by police in Baden-Württemberg after allegedly using a stolen excavator to rampage through the Main-Tauber district, causing extensive damage and injuring several people.

Around 1pm on Tuesday, the man is believed to have stolen the excavator from a construction site, where he had already caused significant damage. He continued driving the excavator towards Tauberbischofsheim, damaging a police car and other vehicles along the way. Several individuals, including a policewoman, were injured in the incident.

Despite attempts to stop him by multiple police patrols, the man refused to comply. The situation escalated when officers opened fire on the suspect, causing the excavator to stop. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
