A 20-year-old man from Luxembourg has drawn negative attention from Austrian authorities in Obertauern near Salzburg after theft in a department store.

According to a statement from the Landespolizei Salzburg, a man was flagged by a department store in Obertauern for theft.

On 26 December 2024, the owner of a sportswear shop reported that a high-end jacket worth €700 had been stolen, likely on 24 December 2024. Following a brief investigation in the ski resort, the police identified the culprit as a 20-year-old man from Luxembourg.

The accused immediately confessed to the theft while wearing the jacket. The damage was rectified by the accused, but a complaint has been filed with the prosecutor's office in Salzburg.
