The Olympic Games officially kick off in Paris on 26 July, amidst extensive security preparations.
In order to guarantee security measures in the capital, the French police will be supported by around 1,750 foreign police officers from 40 different countries, including two Luxembourgish officers.
One of the Luxembourgers will be deployed during the Olympic Games, the other will offer support during the Paralympics later on this summer.
"These officers will act as liaisons at the International Cooperation Centre and will guarantee an exchange of information between Luxembourgish and French authorities," said the Grand Ducal police in a statement regarding the mission.
The French police will also deploy 35,000 officers and gendarmes on a daily basis for the duration of the Games, alongside 18,000 soldiers belonging to the French army.
