In the aftermath of heavy rainfall causing floods in Lower Saxony and Thuringia in Germany and Nord-Pas-de-Calais in France, both nations have sought aid through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Germany is receiving assistance from France, with 39 responders deploying flood containment barriers and 16 vehicles for response activities. Meanwhile, France is set to receive aid from the Netherlands, Czechia, and Slovakia, including high-capacity modules with pumps. Austria, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia, and Slovakia stand ready to offer additional assistance if needed, highlighting the collaborative spirit within the EU during emergencies.
This rapid and coordinated response underscores the effectiveness of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and reinforces the commitment to supporting member states in times of crisis.
