An official of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) estimated on Tuesday that a Covid-19 vaccine dose may cost between €5 and €15.

However, the Union is not yet willing to put an official price tag on the potential vaccine, since the contracts with the respective laboratories still have to be finalised.

Two signatures have thus far been put on a contract: the first agreement was found with British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, the second one with the French-British duo Sanofi-GSK. 300 million vaccine doses have been ordered in both cases.

Thomas Triomphe, vice-president of Sanofi, conveyed that the company was still in the early stages of the vaccine development and that a concrete price could not be estimated before the end of the year. Nevertheless, he insisted that the price would be reasonable, making the vaccine accessible for everyone.
