A Kentucky woman decided to cut a hole in her protective face masks because, as she explained to a puzzled shop worker, it made it "easier to breathe."
Footage of the curious incident quickly went viral on video sharing platform Tik Tok. The short clip shows a gas station clerk reacting with disbelief as the woman approaches with her mouth and nose exposed.
“Where did you get that mask from?” he asks.
“Well, since we have to wear them and it makes it hard to breathe, this makes it a lot easier to breathe,” she answers.
The clerk ironically replies: "Cutting it? Yeah, I’ll do that too, thanks for the advice."
Kentucky governor Andy Beshear recently told residents to wear masks in public starting 11 May.
Needless to say, face masks should not have holes in them. Instructions can be found here.
