The neighbouring Grand Est is the region most affected by coronavirus in France, with the number of confirmed cases jumping up to 464 on Tuesday, compared to 310 the day before.

Among the confirmed cases, there are 47 in the Moselle area, 28 in the Vosges, 11 in Meurthe-et-Moselle, 104 in Bas-Rhin, 260 in Haut-Rhin, 3 in Meuse, 1 in the Ardennes, 1 in Haute-Marne, 1 in l’Aube and 3 in l’Aisne. All patients were hospitalised in institutions.

In a statement published on Tuesday afternoon, the prefecture explained that most confirmed cases were linked to the Porte Ouverte Chrétienne church in Bourtzwiller.

One more patient has died in Haut-Rhin at the age of 63, bringing the total number of deaths in the region to five.

Epidemiological investigations were said to be underway in order to identify subjects who could present a risk, and to take appropriate management measures, in particular to protect vulnerable people and slow the spread of the virus.
