This year, the Michelin Guide celebrates its 125th anniversary, and the city of Metz is hosting the prestigious Michelin star announcement ceremony. Around 1.000 star chefs from across France and 150 international journalists are expected to attend.
Though Luxembourg will not be receiving new stars this year, with the announcement set for 28 April in Antwerp alongside the Belgian-Luxembourg Guide, the country plays an important role in the ceremony. The ‘Destination Moselle, territoire hôte’ organisation, invited Luxembourg to partner in this celebration. In the spirit of cross-border cooperation in the Greater Region, the Vatel-Club Luxembourg, the École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg (EHTL), and star chef Cyril Molard from Metz are also involved.
The event will also showcase the gastronomy of the Moselle Department and Luxembourg, and will feature a Culinary Village.
This weekend, on Saturday, 29 March, and Sunday, 30 March, a Culinary Village will be set up at Place de la République in Metz, featuring around 80 stands from local restaurants, winemakers, and regional specialties. Among the participants will be a food truck from the Vatel-Club Luxembourg and stands from five Luxembourgish winemakers. The village will be open Saturday from 4.00pm to 10.00pm and Sunday from 11.00am to 5.00pm. Entry is free.
Luxembourg will be well-represented at the Michelin star ceremony on 30 March, with ministers and the EHTL attending. Around 1.200 guests are expected, including 1.000 Michelin-starred chefs from France. During the cocktail reception, a Luxembourg stand will feature local specialties and wines
The Moselle Department currently has six Michelin-starred restaurants, and it remains to be seen if any new establishments will be added when the Michelin stars are announced.
On Monday, 31 March, more details will be shared both online and on RTL show Magazin, with our colleagues reporting live from Metz.
