On Friday, a nurse discovered three dead bodies in a house in Retonfey, on the outskirts of Metz.
According to initial reports, the French news outlets France Bleu and Républicain Lorrain state that a policeman in his forties had first shot his mother, then his father, before putting an end to his own life.
The case took an unexpected turn when the authorities found a note explaining that the father, a former police officer, and his son, had communally decided to put the mother out of misery before committing suicide. The woman was 73 years old and severely ill.
First analyses have revealed that the son’s gun appears to be the only one that was used, no other individual was involved. A police investigation is underway to confirm the above.
