Outskirts of Trier3,000 square metres of forest near Ehrang burn down in fire

A forest fire broke out on Tuesday just before 5 pm in Germany, not far from the Luxembourgish border.

The first firefighters to arrive at the “Auf der Bausch” forest near Ehrang at 5pm immediately noted that it was a large-scale fire, with approximately 3,000 square metres of the forest completely in flames.

Between 50 and 70 firefighters from Trier and the surrounding area worked to extinguish the wildfire.

Fire brigades worked through into the night to extinguish the fire completely.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains unclear.
