Trier250kg aerial bomb defused on Sunday

A British aerial bomb was found on a construction site in Trier, only 10km from Wasserbillig, on Tuesday afternoon.

The city of Trier communicated on Tuesday that the bomb weighs 250 kg and has a detonator. It is a type MC 500 bomb.

On Wednesday it was decided that this bomb would be disarmed on Sunday. In a radius of 500 m, 2,300 inhabitants had to leave their houses for three hours.

According to the deminers, the bomb, which was lying in a depth of approximately 1 m 20, did not pose a threat. The bomb was found during construction works taking place near a sports hall. The concerned region was closed off after the discovery.
