The National Jonk Fuerscher awards were launched in 1971, and aim to recognise outstanding projects by young scientists aged between 11 and 21.
The awards cover various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, social sciences, and humanities. This year, on 17 and 18 March, the young entrants will present their projects at the Forum on stage for a jury made up of experts. Audiences can follow the presentations via a live stream on RTL Play.
The event will also host musical performances from various acts, including Culture the Kid, Don Gio, Corbi, Violin Trio and Jon Chase, as well as a series of interactive workshops.
On Sunday 19 March, the public is invited to the Contest’s open house at the Forum Campus Geesseknäppchen from 1pm to 4pm, where visitors can view the projects and meet the young scientists. An awards ceremony will follow on Sunday evening, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Yuriko Backes; the Minister of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, Joëlle Welfring; and the Minister of Equality between Women and Men, Taina Bofferding.
In addition, the Young Scientists Foundation Luxembourg (FSJL) has invited keynote speaker Sebastien Faye, a communication technologies specialist with expertise in artificial intelligence, to the event in order to address the topic of AI in the field of education.
Entrance to the awards is free of charge and the underground parking of the Forum will be accessible for visitors. For more information on the activities of the FJSL, visit the Fondation Jeunes Scientifiques Luxembourg website, or follow @fjs.lux on social media.
