The Water Management Authority’s Flood Forecasting Service (SPC) affirmed on Friday morning that the meteorological situation no longer poses a flood risk. Consequently, the initially declared two-day alert phase has ceased for the entire territory of Luxembourg, excluding the Moselle valley.

While the inondation.lu website indicates a declining trend in the Moselle’s water level, the government department urges continued vigilance, emphasising that the potential risk of flooding persists.

One of our colleagues at RTL Infos observed flooding in the Sûre on Friday morning.

In Stadtbredimus, the water level hovers at the alert threshold of 5.30 m (Remich: 4.52 m). The SPC warns that an increase in water levels cannot be ruled out due to uncertain rainfall forecasts for the southern Moselle basin area in the next 24 hours.

Water levels are expected to remain high and “will only drop slightly on Friday.” Rainfall forecasts remain uncertain.

Grand Est region in France

Météo-France forecasts rain in the eastern part of the country and significant winds in the southeast. Five departments — Pas-de-Calais, Nord, Vendée, and Charente-Maritime — remain under an orange alert for flooding or violent winds. However, the alert has been lifted for Meurthe-et-Moselle, the Vosges, the Var, and the Alpes-Maritimes.

Showers are predicted to persist in the morning from the Belgian borders to the Grand Est, Burgundy, Franche-Comté, and the Rhône-Alpes region. They will continue into the afternoon from the Grand-Est to the Northern Alps, resulting in snowfall from 1,000 meters over the Northern Alps and the Jura and 800 to 900 meters over the Vosges.
