
The Vietnamese Prime Minister was accompanied by nine other ministers. The delegation will also visit other European countries.
“We committed to strengthen bilateral collaboration in discussions with Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. In particular, we count on Luxembourg’s expertise in the areas of education and vocational training. We have also received a pledge that the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students at the University of Luxembourg will be increased,” Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính said.
Around 200 Vietnamese nationals currently live in Luxembourg.
The Grand Duchy and Vietnam have friendly relations. Vietnam was a target country for Luxembourg’s development cooperation for 21 years, establishing a close bond between the two countries.
“Today, Vietnam is Luxembourg’s ninth largest business partner outside of the EU,” Minister for Tourism Lex Delles pointed out. The economic importance of Vietnam is also demonstrated by the fact that numerous Luxembourg-based companies, including ArcelorMittal, Cargolux, and SES, are already active in Vietnam or have business ties to the country, as the director general of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Carlo Thelen, explained.
As part of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit, the Luxembourg School of Hotel Management and Tourism (EHTL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hong Quang Business Consulting Company Limited (HQBC). In the past, the EHTL supported the construction of schools in Vietnam, a collaboration that ceased a few years ago. The new Memorandum of Understanding aims to promote vocational training in the field of tourism and hotel management in selected provinces and cities in Vietnam.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and his delegation will visit the European Investment Bank (EIB) for a meeting with EIB Vice-President Kris Peeters.
Finally, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will be received in audience by HRH the Grand Duke at the Grand Ducal Palace.
