Vicky Krieps is on the cover of the latest issue of German VOGUE. At the same time, the Luxembourgish actress is currently in the spotlight in the new Netflix season of "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story", in which she takes on not one but two roles.
Krieps, who made a name for herself internationally with films such as "Phantom Thread" and "Corsage", is currently based in Berlin. There, she serves as president of the Deutsche Filmakademie.
Her role in the German film world is not the only major hat she wears. Since last year, she has also been the ambassador for the Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta, giving her a foothold in the fashion world too.
Her debut as the face of the brand came last year at the Venice Film Festival.
The VOGUE cover therefore is a new highlight of a career that has not always followed a conventional path.
Shortly after her graduation, Vicky Krieps fell pregnant at the age of 26. At the time, her acting career was still in its infancy. Those around her warned that a pregnancy could bring her career to an end.
She decided in favour of her child. Five years later, she had her second child and continued to support her family through acting roles. Today, the Luxembourgish actress can look back on an international career.
In a conversation with VOGUE shortly after her cover shoot, she said: "What I believed in and what seemed so impossible happened."
The latest season of the Netflix true-crime anthology "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story" has been available to stream since last week. Borden was accused of killing her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892, in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Krieps plays Bridget "Maggie" Sullivan, the Borden family's maid. At the same time, she also takes on the role of Elizabeth Báthory, a Hungarian countess accused of torturing and killing young women and girls.
Krieps was also seen in the season "Monster: The Ed Gein Story", in which she played Ilse Koch, a German war criminal from the Nazi era.
Vicky Krieps's international run continues apace. At the end of 2026, she will be seen on the big screen alongside Brendan Fraser, Bill Murray and Dustin Hoffman in the film "Diamond",
