According to preliminary information, a lorry driver failed to hit the breaks in time and thus crashed the vehicle into another lorry at the end of a traffic jam.
Two passengers were seriously injured and trapped insight the second lorry after the collision. The motorway had to be completely shut to allow an emergency helicopter to land. Clearing operations lasted until 5am. on Tuesday.
