Police in Esch-sur-Alzette apprehended two individuals Monday night following a reported attempted break-in at a jewellery shop on Rue Dicks.
According to an official bulletin, officers located and detained the suspects as they hid between parked cars. A search of the immediate area led to the discovery of a hammer, a crowbar, and a balaclava, which the pair had allegedly attempted to conceal. A subsequent personal search revealed small quantities of cocaine and amphetamines in their possession.
The suspects’ details were recorded, and a formal complaint has been filed.
In unrelated incidents on Monday, burglaries were reported in two other municipalities.
In Garnich, unknown perpetrators forced entry into a detached house through a terrace door during the afternoon. The intruders proceeded to search the rooms for valuables.
Similarly, in the municipality of Parc Hosingen, burglars gained access to a residence by climbing through a conservatory window. The premises were ransacked, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
