Two of Luxembourg’s primary rail lines faced significant disruptions on Wednesday due to technical issues.

The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) reported midday that a breakdown near Bettembourg impacted services on the Luxembourg City-Esch-Rodange and Luxembourg City-Thionville-Metz routes.

The disruption, caused by a technical fault, temporarily halted rail traffic in both directions between Luxembourg City and Bettembourg. To mitigate the inconvenience, CFL deployed replacement buses in the early afternoon to transport passengers along the affected route. These buses stopped at all stations between Luxembourg City and Bettembourg.

Shortly after 2pm, CFL announced the gradual resumption of train services on the Luxembourg City-Esch/Alzette-Rodange and Luxembourg City-Thionville-Metz lines between Luxembourg City and Bettembourg. However, passengers should expect possible delays and cancellations as operations return to normal.

Travellers are advised to consult the latest timetables on the CFL app or the company’s website for updates.
