National railway company CFL said early Thursday afternoon that the train service was interrupted in both directions between Wasserbillig and Trier.
The cause was a technical issue at the Deutsche Bahn (DB) control room in Karthaus. Service is gradually resuming according to the latest update of 5.30pm.
Replacement buses were running between Wasserbillig and Trier (and vice versa), serving all stops along the way.
