In light of the incident, the police have reminded the public to take extra precautions during busy nights such as New Year’s Eve or other large celebrations. They recommend carrying only as much cash and as few bank cards as necessary, being accompanied when out at night, and wearing backpacks or purses in front of the body where they can be seen. Valuables such as wallets should be kept inside a jacket pocket when possible, and individuals are advised to maintain a safe distance from strangers. If a theft occurs, victims should contact the police immediately by calling 113.
During or immediately after a robbery, victims should try to speak to nearby people and ask for help. According to the police, it is better not to engage physically with the perpetrator for safety reasons. Instead, individuals should try to observe and remember details about the suspect to assist with identification. Afterwards, they are advised to file a complaint at a police station and, if appropriate, issue a call for witnesses.
