The fifth day of trial in the matter took place on Wednesday.

Evidence has come to light suggesting that the suspect had been testing out poison several months in advance of the double murder in Bereldange. This was the conclusion presented by the state's prosecutor on the fifth day of trial.

Two friends and a former partner of the defendant have come forward to report similar incidents to those of the day in question. All three have stated suddenly falling ill in presence of the former policeman three months prior to the actual killing.

The first time it happened was in June 2016 in Ibiza. A friend of the suspect had suddenly fallen ill and lost control over his motor functions. Another friend reported a similar incident during the investigations, noting that he already had suspicions against the defendant at the time. The prosecutor then alleged that a former girlfriend had experienced a comparable situation two weeks prior to the death of both victims. Furthermore, the death of the defendant's mother days after his purchase of KO drops in 2014 would now also be considered incriminating.
The prosecutor then presented evidence of the former policeman's financial troubles, indicating he had lost half of his savings over the course of a year. It has moreover come to light that the a significant number of statements made by the defendant during the investigation would be of contradictory nature, although a psychological evaluation has shown no indication of any deficiencies.

The trial will continue on Thursday afternoon.
