Chamber of DeputiesSpeaking times to be shortened to improve debate dynamics

RTL Today
In a move aimed at fostering more engaging parliamentary discussions, the Chamber of Deputies has approved changes to the speaking times of MPs. This decision was reached during a session of the Conference of Presidents.

The initiative is geared towards making debates more attractive by reducing their overall duration. President of the Chamber of Deputies, Claude Wiseler, had already hinted at this adjustment in his inaugural speech. As an example, in Model 1, a commonly employed format, the total duration of a debate will see a significant reduction of almost an hour.

As part of this reform, certain antiquated models, specifically Models 6 and 7, which rarely found application and were originally scheduled for over 920 and over 1,000 minutes respectively, have been entirely eliminated.
